EMBRACEABILITY DAY - 6TH DECEMBER 2008
With a small grant from Sutherland Shire Council all services collaborated in the attempt to highlight our services and the people we support. Civic Disability Services, The Sutherland Shire Council, St George Migrant Resource Centre, Parent to Parent Association, Sylvanvale and Community Transport joined together to celebrate International Day of People with a Disability.
In the blistering heat our dignitaries who included: The Mayor, Lorraine Kelly, Councillor Jan Forshaw, MP Malcolm Kerr, our patron for the day Jason Stevens, Olympians – Craig Stevens, Tina McKenzie and Chris Wilder opened the day.

The day was a wonderful success, with many brilliant performances throughout the day from Bleached Academy, Party Inc, Sylvan Dance Group, Twinkle Stars Dance troupe, The Sapphire Sirens, and George Kondilis all helping to make the day a huge success.

Even with the extreme temperatures on the day community participation was enormously gratifying –from an event last year that saw only service participation this year’s event opened the wider community to our services and the people we support which will go a long way for community recognition and acceptance.

Everyone who participated in the event had a great day!
